The Magnolia Sword: a Ballad of Mulan by Sherry Thomas, Review by Wei Li

I was drawn to this by the cover. I thought it looked cool. Basically it's a retelling of The Ballad of Mulan. I'm Chinese and I love Mulan and the retellings. I really liked this book becuase it took on a different tone to the original ballad, focusing on the two families and their long-standing feud, not just on the war. Also the north isn't portrayed as just a harsh and barbaric place.

It's a lovely read, not just a retelling it goes in different directions.

Rated: 5/5 Magnolias

All That Impossible Space by Anna Morgan, Review by Bella

It's about this girl called Lara. She's a normal girl in high school. She has a new history teacher, who sets the class a historical mystery to solve. It's about Lara navigating her friendships while trying to figure our the mystery of The Somerton Man. She has a toxic relationship with one of her friends, Ashley -I wanted to slap her! She's really manipulative...

It's a really good book.

Rated: 5/5 Mysteries

So far I'd rate it 4/5 Perfumes

Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan, Read by Ciena

This is the first book in a trilogy.
Spoiler: In the first chapter Magnus Chase dies.
He goes to Valhalla, which is an afterlife for the heroes of Odin, who try and stop Ragnarok Omen, or at least, delay so they can prepare...

Filled with Norse mythology and even some Marvel references.

Rated 4/5 Swords of Summer
