The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, review by Isabella

It's narrated by Mr. Utterson. The first page is a bit boring, it's all about how he's a pretty bad guy but everyone loves him. It takes about five pages of character introductions, descriptions of likes and dislikes before you actually get into the interesting stuff. I like it because it's got really nice writing, but if I didn't like the writing I'd be so bored by it. Mr. Utterson receives a will from someone, someone who's still alive. He thinks, hmm, this is a weird will. It's Henry Jekyll's will, and it says, If I disappear for more than three weeks, Mr. Hyde will take possession of everything that I own. Mr Utterson is like, man what is up with this, this is weird!? Mr. Jekyll asks him not to talk about. Things don't happen that aren't related to the plot. However, it probably takes until chapter ten or twelve for My Utterson to start to understand. Before then Mr. Utterson spends a long time trying to scope out Mr. Hyde and his friend's dubious connection to him...

Rated: 4/5 Mysterious People "I like it, sometimes the descriptions get a little bit long, but I like old language"

Fallen by Lauren Kate, review by Nika

I'm up to chapter four. It's about this girl called Lu, who has been forced to attend a boarding school because of this incident with a boy in a cabin. There was a fire, she managed to get away but the boy didn't. Everyone thinks that it's her fault and she sees these shadows... Also, there's this guy Daniel, he really doesn't like her for some reason, Lu wants to find out why.

Rated: 3.5/5 Fires "It's okay. It's one of those books where unless you've seen the movie, you won't know what's going on for a while."

The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart, review by Louise

It's a pretty good book. It's about this girl called Frankie, she's fifteen and she's really good-looking. Her family still treat her like a little kid. She attends this prestigious school where she meets her boyfriend. Anyway she finds out that he is part of this club along with a lot of the guys at the school, called the Loyal Order of the Basset-Hounds. It's guys only and Frankie isn't happy about it.

Rated: 3.5/5 Basset-Hounds "I feel like it's a good book, but it's not five-star quality"

The Jewel: The Lone City by Amy Ewing, review by Olivia

Some people are really rich and are like royalty. Then there are the poorer circles. Some of the poor are highly valued, because the royal classes can't have children and must use the lower classes as surrogates. When you're eight, you get tested if you're a girl and if you're picked, you can be taken away from your family to a place where the colours of the castle change. The story focuses on Violet, and what her life is like after being bought at auction.

Rated: 4/5 Auctions "It's pretty good, I enjoyed it"
