Ollie is an outgoing American and painfully sarcastic teen hermit, living almost completely alone in the woods, born severely allergic to electricity. Moritz is a quiet German teen born without eyes and with a heart problem which has been controlled by a pacemaker. If the two ever met Ollie would surely die from seizures caused by Moritz's pacemaker, and Moritz would surely die without it. But what ties them together? Well the stacks of letters sent between Moritz's world of bullies and blood, and Ollie's world of first love and power lines...and a certain location. How will Ollie figure out his disappearing 'lady-friend' and mother? And how will Moritz deal with his eyelessness and the school bully's victim?
Rated: 5/5 fishbowls. (yes, fishbowls). "'Because You'll Never Meet Me' is a hilarious and heart-wrenching book which conveys many different aspects of confidence, love and friendship. This is the sort of story you can read over and over again without getting bored."
What's A Girl Gotta Do? by Holly Bourne. - Louise
It's about this girl called Lottie who is seventeen and lives in England. She's a feminist, and she belongs to this group where they talk about what they would like to change. Her parents put a lot of pressure on her to do well academically, because she aspires to be an influential politician, -maybe even the Prime Minister of England. When Lottie gets harassed outside of school by two older men, she decides to call out every piece of sexism she witnesses for a whole month. She is met with a lot of resistance, and a really hot guy who she is really attracted to, until she finds out he isn't a feminist, but an "equalist." Lottie is also worried that her friend's relationship with her boyfriend has become abusive.
Rated: 5/5 empowering women. "I've always thought of myself as a feminist, but this book opened my eyes to everything, especially the ingrained sexualisation of women. It made me want to call out sexism when I see it too, although I don't know how well that would be received at my school."

Set in the future during a global catastrophe where the internet has been down for three days. Don’t let the terrible name put you off! It was very well written and the ending wraps up the story well.
Rated: 5/overdrives. "Great for science fiction buffs”
I really enjoyed how factual this was – the author obviously did extensive research. The themes were interesting and intense. Occasionally the sheer amount of information worked against it, stopping the action from progressing.
Rated: 4/5 Reallys "Overall I think it was a fantastic book with a lot of potential for a series."

Nerve by Jean Ryan - Riya
There are these two characters Venus and Ian. They don't know each other, but they both play this game called Nerve. In Nerve, you get challenged to do dares. It's a social media game, where people vote on what dares players should do. Venus is dared by her friends to start playing the game. Her first dare is to kiss Ian. When she does people who follow the game think they make a really cute couple so they start receiving joint dares. The dares get increasingly more serious and the consequences for failing them do too. It's fun at first, but they quickly realize that the game is like a trap, where the further in you go the harder it gets to break free unscathed.
Rated: 4/5 Reallys "I really liked this book, the movie is a great adaptation too"
This is the second book in The Song of Fire and Ice series. I'm only part of the way in so far, having just read the first book. So far it is as though each character's perspective is being set up as though they positioned on a chess board. There is lots of hinting that something really big is going to happen, which is likely, because four kings are in the middle of a war. The father of the King of the North was just killed, so he is trying to attack the royal Lannister family. Joffrey, the new king on the throne, is supposedly the late king's son, but he was actually born out of the incestuous relationship between the queen and her brother. The two brothers of the late king both believe they are the rightful heirs to the throne. Then there is Daenerys with her dragons, who is on a quest to conquer the seven kingdoms. She believes her family are the rightful heirs. So all of these characters and a few others like the night's watchmen are placed on this political chessboard. You get a lot more insight into the characters that you don't get with the TV show.
Rated: 4/5 kings. "It's hard to rate at the moment because I'm only part of the way in, right now it is just gearing up for the main action. I am really enjoying the plot so far. It's very psychologically interesting, all the politics and power plays, with everyone fighting for what they believe in."
